The ONLY way to tour the Wine Country
Our next stop was the Del Dotto Vineyards. You might
remember Dave Del Dotto from his TV informercials, one of
the first, "Dave Del Dotto's Cash Flow Plan."

Too bad Carly and Jamie aren't having a good time
on our way to Del Dotto Estate Vineyards in Napa
|
It must have worked because
he's developed one of Napa's finest wineries on the north
end of town. Dave has traveled the world in search of
wine barrels because it is his belief, and, now, ours,
that the wine barrel, how long it is charred inside, where
the wood is from and how long the wines stays in it are
tremendous, and underrated by some, influences on the
final outcome.
They take you on a barrel tasting in their storage caves
where they test Dave's theories of barrel aging on a scale
unmatched by other wineries. |

Del Dotto tasting room.

You can certainly tell this is an Italian winery! We
half-way expected the Godfather to conduct this tasting.
|

Difficult to see because this is deep in the Del Dotto
estate storage caves with Bob Groff explaining how
this winery specializes in using barrels from all
over the world to flavor its wines.
|

Del Dotto's Bob Groff explains that each barrel comes
from a different part of the world; from Russia to Virginia.
The winemaker takes the same Cabernet Sauvignon and
the different woods impart slight, but noticeable, flavor
nuances to each one.
