Preventing heart disease: White wine helps build the good cholesterol called HDL in the body. The resulting control on cholesterol in the body helps prevent heart disease. White wine also has two good antioxidants in the body called tyrosol and hydroxytyrosol, which both help in protecting the heart. They help by preventing blockages in the arteries and improving heart function. Italian and German white wines are known to have higher level of hydroxytyrosol and tyrosol. Improving Lung function: According to a study conducted by the University of Buffalo, people who drank white wine moderately were observed to expel more air from their lungs. It was also observed that people who had been drinking white wine for a longer period could expel even more air than those who were drinking the same for a shorter period. The test came to the conclusion that the white wine could be preventive along with the necessary medications for people with asthma. Cancer prevention: The grapes that are used in wine making are known to contain antioxidant. Resveratrol is the most popular antioxidant associated with wines. Though it is found more in red wine, in white wine it is also found to combat free radical in the body that are known to be the cause for cancer. Reduced hangovers: The reason people who drink alcohol have hangovers is because of the chemical byproduct called congeners that is formed as a byproduct of the fermentation of the alcohol. Congeners are responsible for the aroma, taste and color of alcohol. In the case of white wine the congener levels are much lower compared to other alcohols. Drinking white wine can therefore help you avoid nausea and irritable hangovers. |
