Fine Red wines are made all over the world. For why should any pleasant peopled country deprive itself of a luxury such as red wine? So here is a short list of good red wines from outside the USA that you can get your hand on and savor. You may just like the wine so much that it may leave you with a pleasant opinion of that country. Anne Delaroche Cotes du Rhone 2009: This is fine red wine from the Rone Valley in France, whose wine making tradition goes back centuries. The Anne Delaroche , a fine medium bodied blend of the region varieties i.e. Syrah 50%, Grenache 40% and Mourvèdre 10%. Its notes of ripe blackberry, red currant and plum are apparent with a hint of molasses, cinnamon that creates a fine balance with complexity. El Peral Cabernet Sauvignon: This fine red wine hails from the world’s highest elevation vineyards that are in Argentina. It is the ideal place to press this wine, with the hot days for ripeness and cool mountain air in the evening to even out the fruit complexity and flavors. The wine has a bouquet of dark fruit aromas i.e. blackberry and black cherry with a compliment of a smooth, earthly touch. The wine is full bodied with ripe tannins. Sierra Batuco Cabernet Sauvignon: The vineyard in Chile stretch for 870 miles, these lie between the Pacific Ocean and the Andes. The same variety grape that is grown in California is grown here too and they do well. This fine red wine comes through with ripe notes of blackberry and blackcurrant, along with notes of graphite and spice. The wine is smooth and full-bodied and soft textured. Tenuta Viglione 'Rupestre' Red Wine 2008: This fine red wine comes from the Gioia del Colle in Puglia, Italy. This region is known for its flavorful, spicy and Primitive grapes, which is paired superbly here with Merlot. This fine wine is hearty and Old World in style, combining the strawberry and blueberry Merlots with the spicy, savory and earthy note of the Primitive. Catania Tempranillo 2010: Ribera Del Duero in Spain’s Northern Plateau is the place from where this fine red wine comes. The region’s popular grape is the Tempranillo that grows well in the long sunny dry climate. This wine has a deep red color of cherry and well balanced floral aromas and that go well with the rounded tannins. It is an easy drinking wine. |
Not all wines get better with age but those that do are mostly the collector’s wines. These vintages ought to be kept properly in cellars at the right temperature.
